Our expedition to Chulu West Peak (6250m) is the most
challenging range of trekking peaks. This peak is ideally suited to those with previous experience in the
Himalaya, preferably for those who have trekked to high altitudes or have succeeded on other Himalayan
trekking peaks such as Mera Peak. Prior mountaineering experience, though not essential, is a distinct
advantage. Expedition members will have to carry their own personal equipment on the mountain and
they must be prepared to work as a team for the expedition to be a success. You should only consider this
expedition if you have a very high level of physical fitness and mental stamina.
Chulu west is
located in the Manang valley to the north of the main Annapurna range and close to the Tibetan border.
This region was only opened to trekkers in 1977 but due to the great diversity of local people and
mountain scenery it has since become one of the most popular trekking regions in Nepal.
This
itinerary is intended as a guide only and should not be read in conjunction with the inclusive itinerary in
the main brochure. The leader may change parts of the itinerary to respond to the changeable mountain
conditions, which will be encountered in this area, or to suit to the needs or interests of the
group.
It should be noted that standard travel insurance policies do not cover mountaineering
involving the use of ropes and ice axes. We can issue a policy for our climbing program/s at a very
competitive rate. Insurance is compulsory.
