Opened just a year back, the nangpa la is the main trading route between the Sherpa people and the Tibetan. This trek also traces the important history of the Sherpa people, who are believed to have migrated from Tibet to Nepal via the Nangpa La between 300 and 400 years ago. Many Tibetans cross this pass to be part of the famous open sky market in Namche that are held every Saturday.

We start our trek from Lukla after a spectacular flight from Kathmandu. We will explore some of the least visited valleys, villages and passes of Khumbu. We follow the trails that offer startling vistas, extraordinary solitude and a fair measure of high altitude hiking challenge. We will explore this area at a time of year when we can expect clear skies, moderate temperatures and blooming rhododendrons. Our return route via Renzo La and the Gokyo Valley will offer spectacular views of Everest, Cho Oyo, Lhotse and other peaks. For much of the trek we will probably encounter few if any other trekkers.
