Bhutan is a landlocked country covering an area of 47,000 square

kilometres. It is located between Tibet in the north, Indian states of West Bengal and Assam in the south,

and Arunachal Pradesh in the east.

Bhutan's land consists of rugged, mountainous, snowcapped

and glacier covered terrain in north, part of Himalayas, high mountains in center and southern spurs of

Himalayas, foothills and subtropical plains in south. Highest point is Kulha Gangri at 7,554 meters. There

are numerous, rapidly flowing rivers largely unnavigable, but provide water for irrigation and

hydroelectric-power generation. From May to August, hills are covered with an awesome variety of flowers

decorated with waterfalls and streams gushing in wild abandon.
