Passing through a dense forest of conifers, junipers,
small bushes of daphne and colourful rhododendrons, this is one of the softer treks Bhutan has to offer
for the plant lovers and Botanists. Starting from the rich and the impressive Gangtey monastery situated in
a secluded valley near Pelela pass. The trek goes through a large valley and crosses two passes at 3,400m
/ 11,152 ft to the beautiful valleys of Gogona and Kotokha 3,000m / 9840 ft hidden in the Jow Dhurshing
(Lord of the Silver Fir) range.
April and May are the best months to see them in full bloom. The
last day is a fantastic ecological adventure through rhododendron forest, a semi- tropical (broad shiny
leaves) forest, orchids and unknown creepers to the neatly maintained paddy fields, orange trees and the
pretty farm houses of Sha valley.
