Driving through the western
town of the Paro, Thimpu and to Punakha and Wangdi Phodraag, we take this tour to understand some of
the myths and legends behind the various Dzongs of these cities. Some of the places we visit are the
Fortress of the Glorious Religion, Tashichho Dzong built in 1641 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the
unifier of Bhutan. The ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, which are the remains of the violent history between the
Bhutanese and Tibetan invaders and Tashi Dzong, the ancestral home of the ruling dynasty.
